Ramos bill to increase services to homeless youth approved by Assembly Committee

SACRAMENTO— A bill to require to require Continuums of Care (CoC) programs – a series of social services for the homeless – to include youth-specific entry points, assessment, and prioritization scores, and youth appropriate housing and services was approved today on a unanimous 11-0 vote in the Assembly Committee on Housing and Community Development. Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-San Bernardino) introduced AB 249 sponsored by the California Coalition for Youth.

Retired veterans, lawmakers urge passage of Ramos’s AB 53 to grant military retirees state tax break on federal pensions

SACRAMENTO – Retired veterans and a bipartisan group of legislators from both houses today called for passage of AB 53 that would grant uniformed retirees and their survivors a state tax exemption on their military pensions. Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-San Bernardino) introduced the measure in December. The bill is scheduled for a hearing today in the Assembly Committee on Revenue and Taxation.

Ramos measures would add new protections for domestic violence victims from assailants and increase public safety on tribal lands

SACRAMENTO—A measure to grant state peace officer status to tribal law enforcement who meet the same California standards as other officers and another to grant victims of domestic violence or sexual assault temporary criminal protective orders against their convicted assailants upon the perpetrator’s release from state prison were approved Tuesday unanimously by the Assembly Public Safety Committee. Ramos receives inaugural Legislator of the Year award from California Nations Indian Gaming Association and an award from California Alliance of Child and Family Services

SACRAMENTO—Assemblymember James C. Ramos (D-San Bernardino) announced that two different organizations – California Nations Indian Gaming Association (CNIGA) and California Alliance of Child and Family Services (CACFS)—have honored him today with “Legislator of the Year” Awards.

“I am surprised and humbled by both recognitions,” Ramos said. “This is the first year CNIGA has presented this award, so it has special meaning for me, and working with CACFS to support families and children has been a privileged honor since my election to the legislature,” he added.

Ramos announces 2025 legislative bill package
